Samantha Harris who has been with the show since its second season will be leaving Dancing With The Stars.

The new season which starts in mid March has not been scheduled with her replacement yet but reports say that Paula Abdul is not going to be joining the show.

Previously when Paula’s contract negotiations fell through she was said to have been offered a 1 million dollar signing contract and the chance to develop her own show on ABC however that never happened.

On a good note maybe these shows have run their course. It seems that people have been turning away from the contest shows and performers selected to be on them are reaching the bottom of the barrel. American Idol which still pulls the best numbers in the business is set to change dramatically with the introduction of Ellen who will most likely over power the show and Simon leaving.

The fact is these shows were introduced as low cost filler but then grew in popularity and with that their budgets have grown.  Do we really want these shows? Or is America hoping for another show just as exciting as Lost was…

I think if you asked most people 2 years ago to choose between Lost or shows like … The Bachelor, Dancing With The Stars, America’s Got Talent or American Idol, Survivor they would have picked Lost.

Lost is an escape show where the others have infected our society… We vote people off in our own lives as if life is a reality show or vote for politicians as if its a popularity contest.. but these reality shows are not reality.

How we all long for just one season of Survivor to be a Real Reality Show where the people who can actually gather food, build fires and survive win and the others get eaten by animals.
